In the November newsletter, Sharon Kumagai let us know that her brother Norman isn’t the player kneeling next to Coach Okazaki.

This month, Gordon Tani writes, “Gee, [that] doesn’t even look like Norman Kumagai. No, that tall dude is Michael Tanaka. [The Tanakas] lived right next door to us on Bonaparte Avenue. I think Mr. Sadao Tanaka still lives in that house, and he is about the tallest Nisei in the community – 6’3”.”

Mrs. Kiyo Tanaka from Rubens Avenue called to say that Sharon’s November quote made Kiyo’s son James Tanaka take a closer look at the photo and he noticed that the player standing next to Coach Okazaki bears a resemblance to his brother, Norman Tanaka.

Recapping the information gathered over the last seven months:

Standing left to right:  1. Steve Kunzer, 2. Alan Kosaka, 3. Eric Sasaki, 4. Steve Okazaki or Richard Komoto, 5. Steve Oba, 6. Wado Hojo or Norman Tanaka.

Kneeling left to right:  1. Roger Yano, 2. Gerald Yamashita or Stacy Ino, 3. Randy Hamashita, 4. Reggie Benigno, 5. Michael Tanaka or Norman Kumagai, 6. Coach Toll Okazaki.
