By Sharon Kumagai
Sunday, March 18th at the VJCC Gym from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, VJCC is sponsoring a free showing of filmmaker, Brian T. Mary grew up in the Venice area. She graduated from Venice High and was interned at Manzanar during World War II.
Brian T. Maeda, the filmmaker, will facilitate the “Living History” panel discussion. The panelists will feature actual high school students of Manzanar. They will answer questions and share with the audience their experience, strength and hope for the future. Panel members from Manzanar High are: Bruce T. Kaji, founder of the Japanese American National Museum and member of the Jive Bombers in camp, Arnold Maeda, Class President of Manzanar Class of 1945, Archie Miyatake, Sam Ono, Rose Honda and Haru Nakata. Also participating on the panel will be George Nakano, former California State Assemblyman.
