What’s Line Dancing?
| Very simply, dancers
all do the same pattern of steps to music while being in lines. Partners
are not needed. |

3 Levels of Classes for VJCC Members:
Beginners Class: The class begins each year in February. On Friday mornings from
9:25 to 10:25. The focus is on learning basic steps and terminology.
The Beginners Class will also be repeated weekly on Tuesdays from
12:30 to 1:30 pm.
Students are asked to
wear layered clothing (they may get warm while dancing and want
to shed an outer wrap) and to wear shoes that will not scuff or
mar the floor (older tennis shoes with a smooth soles work well).
Advanced Beginner / Easy Intermediate
Class: On Friday mornings from 10:30. Dancers
say this level is fun because the dances are fairly easy to learn
but hard enough to be a challenge. Members pay each time they attend
a class.
Intermediate Class: On
Tuesday afternoons from 1:40 to 3:10 pm. Class members learn new
dances taught at recent dance workshop events or ones with unique
steps.
Instructors:
The Beginners class is taught by Tosh Aiboshi, coordinator
for the VJCC line dancing program.
The Advanced Beginner and Intermediate classes are taught by Noël
Castle, an award-winning choreographer and instructor, who
uses her skills based upon many years of credentialed teaching of
physical education and dance.
Cost: All students must be members of
the Venice Japanese Community
Center. They pay a class fee each time they attend a class.
