Ukelele Classes

The ukulele class started in September 2001 with a team of very talented instructors, Leo and Jimmy. The majority of students have not had any formal musical training but they all enjoy the camaraderie of strumming and singing with their classmates. Leo and Jimmy have excellent teaching skills and their patience is commendable.

The 90-minute Thursday class meets weekly at 1:45 p.m. Their repertoire includes Hawaiian, Japanese and American songs. Visitors are welcome to observe a class. Students must have a ukulele. For information contact the VJCC office.

Mission Statement
To preserve, share and promote the Japanese and Japanese-American culture and heritage, and provide for the needs and interests of the Japanese-American community through education and instruction.
