BOY SCOUT TROOP 764
Troop 764
“On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my Country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”
– Scout Oath –
“A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.”
– Scout Law –
Founded in 1964, Troop 764 began meeting at the Venice Japanese Community Center with these words. Since its inception, the troop has had the honor of advancing nearly 200 scouts to the rank of Eagle. Their names are inscribed on plaques kept on display in the new lobby of the VJCC. In the tradition of Boy Scouts, each troop meeting is opened with a reciting of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
The troop is guided by the veteran scouts of the Senior patrol, who provide leadership for the scouts of the Scorpion, Shark, Taz, Water Buffalo and Wolf patrols. Over its nearly sixty years, the scouts of Troop 764 have provided countless hours of service to the VJCC and to our community.
