Sumi-e: Japanese Ink Painting

Two artistic ink sketches of frogs on paper are shown. The top frog appears in motion, while the bottom one is sitting. Both are on a blue woven mat.

Come and enjoy learning the ancient Japanese art!

The Sumi-e class meets every Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  No previous experience in Sumi-e is necessary.

We charge $5.00 per session.  If you can’t make it, there is no charge.

We participate each year in the Japanese Expo during the summer festival.

I feel very supportive by sensei Jane Shibata, who learned the craft from her mom, a former VJCC sensei.
